News, News, News: Amazing Spider-Man 2, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, Anonymous Sitter

It looks like Sony's taking their new Spider-Man franchise pretty seriously. In March, they hired screenwriter James Vanderbilt to pen a sequel to next year's The Amazing Spider-Man and today, they settled the release date for May 2nd, 2014. “I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment.”, a executive of Sony told Deadline.

While I'm speaking of comic book adaptations, Warner Bros. has officially released the first photo of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, which hits theatres and IMAX July 20th, 2012. A source mentioned that the Catwoman costume was “tactical, like the comic book,” and “less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costumes”. You got that right. I do like the goggles. It's very high tech.

Finally, two new trailers have emerged. Well, one was actually released yesterday, but who cares? It's still new.
First, the film Anonymous. A second trailer for Roland Emmerich's "did Shakespeare really write his plays" conspiracy flick shows new footage, while keeping one of my favourite Radiohead tracks, "Everything in its Right Place" that scored the first trailer. It'll premiere at TIFF in September and opens in wide release October 28th.

And IGN released a red band trailer for the comedy The Sitter, out December 9th. The movie stars Jonah Hill as a suspended college student who gets lured to a babysitting gig. Hill takes the three children on a night through the streets of New York City. Before the trailer starts, Hill gives a minute-long introduction (You'll notice his slimmed-down look) where kids ask him pretty crude questions. If you just wanna get to the trailer, skip to the 1:17 mark. The film also stars Sam Rockwell and Ari Graynor.
