News, News, News- Billion-Dollar Transformers, Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Transformers: Dark of the Moon has made over a $1 billion worldwide. It's joined Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides to mark the first time in history that three movies released in the same year all reached this point in their theatrical run. It also proved that 3D has become more popular overseas than in America. The third TF is  the tenth movie ever to earn a billion and ranked ninth on the all-time chart, edging out The Dark Knight. Box Office Mojo predicts that it will surpass POTC: Dead Man's Chest's $1.006 billion, which will place it in the top five all-time chart behind Avatar, Titanic, HP7: Part 2 and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. We'll see what happens in the upcoming weeks.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is hitting theatres this Friday and so far, reviews have been positive. One of the reasons is obviously the amazing-looking visuals created by WETA Digital (LOTR, Avatar). This featurette shows their design for the apes as well as footage of Andy Serkis perfoming as Caeser, who leads the revolution. Take a look.
