It's a new week, which means there are plenty of stuff to mention. First, let's go to Disney. They have just added two Marvel films for May 16, 2014 and June 27, 2014. Both these films remain a mystery, but hopfully one of them might be a Doctor Strange film. They have also added an untitled Pixar film for the same year on May 30 and a untitled film directed by Henry Selick for October 4, 2013. While I'm on adding dates for new films, Lionsgate has just added Catching Fire, the sequel to next year's The Hunger Games for November 22, 2013 and Summit Entertainment has moved the alien invasion film The Darkest Hour up to this Christmas.
Sometimes actors like to take their careers into their own hands. Jason Momoa is just one of those actors. The lead in the new Conan The Barbarian says he is writing a script for the sequel. Crave Online spoke to the star, where asking at one point about the sequel. Here's what Momoa said of his script:
It will mostly be… It’s character-adapted, because I really want to get into more of the mythical creatures, you know? [...] We wanted to go there [in the first one], but having Clash of the Titans, and coming out against that, we wanted to put the budget into some other things. [...] I don’t want to give anything away, but we already have our Conan, really it’s about the villain, what that villain is going to extract from Conan, and where as an actor I want to go with Conan. [...] So, I think we have a good lock on it. Also, I feel it’s beautiful… How many actors get to go in there and go, “I’m part of the writing process?” and care that much about the character, because he is a fan himself? It’s great. You know some people go like, “It’s great, I’m going to be in my trailer.” I want to @#$%ing make a great Conan movie.
Maybe the studio could pick this one up. You never know. It's pretty obvious that they'll plan a sequel if this one makes moo-lah. We'll see what happens when the film opens August 19th.
Finally, The Sitter. Last week, I posted up the red-band trailer with all the profanities and dirty jokes intact. Now this week, I give you the green-band version, which has less language and some more footage, but sadly, less of Sam Rockwell and Ari Graynor. Also starring J.B. Smoove, Max Records (the kid from Where the Wild Things Are), and Landry Bender, the film hits theatres December 9.
