Lionsgate has hired choreographer-turned-director Kenny Ortega (the man who brought the High School Musical films and the Michael Jackson documentary, This Is It) to direct a new version of the 80's classic Dirty Dancing. What makes this funny is before this happened, he was originally set to direct the Footloose remake (out Oct. 14, by the way) only to drop out and let Craig Brewer take his place, but seeing as he choreographed the famous moves for the original, he's probably a good choice for the project. Deadline says that the remake was Lionsgate's "high priority", seeing as there was an intent to remake the film back in 2009. Julia Dahl (former writer of The West Wing, Uptown Girls) is the screenwriter of the remake. Casting should be announced soon.
Three new photos have emerged: Two for the Gary Ross-directed film adaptation of The Hunger Games via Facebook, featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, and a new shot of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol from Yahoo!. Check 'em out.
